These high quality, small-sized Pocket Kalimbas is made of a massive resonating body of cherrywood (or mahogany) and metal tongues. It has a lovely, not so loud sound and is easy to play with both thumbs. You can lay it on a drum for more volume.

The Kalimba is the instrument of history tellers from South Africa. It is also called thumb piano, Mbira, or Sanza.
In the mid 1950s the mbira was the basis for the development of the kalimba, a westernized version designed and marketed by the ethnomusicologist Hugh Tracey, leading to a great expansion of its distribution outside Africa
